PUEBLO, Colo. – The Missouri Western lacrosse suffered its second straight loss as they fell at Colorado State-Pueblo Sunday, 18-16. The Griffons fall to 2-4 this season, while CSUP improves to 2-2.
MWSU rallied from an early 2-0 deficit to take a 5-4 lead with 18:28 left in the first half on three
Madison Brady goals and two from
Jordan Shughrue. The Thunderwolves then went on a 7-2 run to end the half and they took an 11-6 lead to the locker room despite the Griffon having more shots on goal, 17-14.
Missouri Western pulled to within three goals, 12-9, 10 minutes into the second half before CSU-Pueblo scored three straight to extend their lead to six. The Griffons fought back and pulled within two goals twice in the final 7:03 but were never able to get any closer.
Madison Brady and
Jordan Shughrue led MWSU with five goals and one assist each.
Madison Iandoli added three goals,
Amani Robinson had two and
Catherine Langmaid scored one goal.
The Griffons finish with 32 shots on goal to the Thunderwolves 24. MWSU committed just 19 turnovers, while CSUP had 29. CSU-Pueblo had the advantage on draw controls as they won 22 of the 36 in the game.
Missouri Western will now be off until Friday, April 2 when the play their GLVC opener on the road at Rockhurst.
