ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -In their first game at Spratt Stadium in 363 days, the Missouri Western football team fell to MIAA competitor Pittsburg State 20-7.
Down 10-0 at halftime, the lone Griffon touchdown came from a 90-yard kick-off return by Sam Webb to open the 3rd quarter.
Pitt State (1-1) went on to score once more in the third quarter and had another field goal in the fourth. The Griffons held the Gorillas to just 296 total yards, but managed just 180 yards of offense. MWSU was also flagged 17 times for 165 penalty yards in the loss.
The Griffons will travel to Canyon, Texas, on Saturday, Nov. 14, to play West Texas A&M at 4 p.m.

In their 2019 matchup, Missouri Western topped Pitt State in Kansas 35-21. It was the Griffons' first win over the Gorillas since 2012.

MWSU had just one player test positive for COVID this week, but Defensive Coordinator Justin Richter was missing from the sideline for a second straight week due to quarantine protocols. Injuries have been the main issue during this 2020 return to play, with multiple starters sidelined for a second straight week.
