ST. JOSEPH – The Missouri Western Soccer team will be on the road this week after a six-game stretch at home to start the season. The Griffons will head to Warrensburg to take on No. 7 Central Missouri Friday night, and then they will travel to Missouri Southern for another match-up with the Lions.
 
Due to the weather forecast for Friday night, Missouri Western's match in Warrensburg has been moved up from the original time of 7 p.m. to 6 p.m.
 
The Griffons are hoping to extend their 3-game win streak as well as upset one of the best soccer programs in the country. They have been in a similar situation to Friday's matchup before: the Griffons upset Central Missouri at Spratt Stadium 1-0 when the Jennies were ranked No. 1 in the country last season.
 
Sunday's matchup with Missouri Southern will be the second game the Griffons have played against the Lions.
 
SCOUTING THE GRIFFONS
 

• Missouri Western has not allowed a single goal in their last three games.
• The Griffons have also averaged 9.3 shots on goal per game in their last three games.
• Taylor Schwartzkopf has the second-best average in the MIAA for shots per game with 5.17.
• Anna Mayer has the third-best save percentage in the conference with .896.
• Mayer's save total of 42 is also top-15 in all of Division II.

• The Jennies lead the conference in total goals with 19. This total is also 11^th best in Division II.
• Central Missouri also has the second-best average in points per game with 8.5. This rate is also top-15 in Division II.
• Makayla Toth leads the conference in average points per game and goals per game. These averages are also top-15 in Division II.
• Haley Freeman's assist average of .50 is fifth best in the MIAA.

 
SCOUTING MISSOURI SOUTHERN
 

• The Lions are hoping to bounce back into the win column as they have lost their last three games, including 1-0 loss to the Griffons last week.
• Riley Lavar has the second highest saves per game average in the MIAA with 6.83.
• Their second matchup with the Griffons will feature the opening of MIAA play Sunday afternoon.
