ORLANDO, Fla. – Missouri Western (7-4) lost its first match during its stay in Orlando, falling 4-3 to University of Mary (11-2) on Sunday. UMary's one point win was its closest match of the team's current six-match win streak.

The Griffons lost the doubles point for just the third time in their nine matches this spring.
Joanna Abreu Roman and Karolina Ström cruised to a 6-1 win in their matchup, and were the Missouri Western pair to win heading into singles.

The Griffons and Marauders split the six singles matches.
Mireia Birosta,
Federica Salmaso, and
Bojana Vuksan all picked up wins on the number three, five, and six courts respectively. Vuksan's 6-0, 6-2 victory now gives her four-straight wins this spring.

Both Ström and Abreu Roman lost on tiebreakers after splitting the first two sets with their opponents. Ström's loss on Sunday ends what was an impressive eight-match winning streak in duals this season.

Missouri Western will play one more match before returning from Orlando, when the team faces off against Minnesota Crookston (0-9) on Monday, March 11.
