ST. JOSEPH – Missouri Western Women's Basketball head coach
Candi Whitaker announced her second signing class this week, inking five future Griffons for the 2020-21 season.
All five will be freshman next season for the Griffons and will come to Missouri Western from five different states. Whitaker stayed in the region, but found the five from four different states.
"We are extremely excited to announce these five young women as signees to our program," Whitaker said. "They each come from tremendous families which is evident by their character, selflessness and work ethic. It was important to our program that we signed a strong class of high school student-athletes this year and I truly believe we did just that. Griffon fans are going to love watching this group play."
Brooke Brown
5-7 | Guard | Sioux Falls, S.D. | Lincoln High School
Whitaker on Brown: "Brooke is a high IQ point guard that comes from a winning high school program. In addition to hitting shots at a high clip, she can create for teammates with her ball handling and passing ability. We are excited to welcome Brooke to the Griffon family."
Kadyn Cobb
5-9 | Guard | Salina, Kan. | Salina Central High School
Whitaker on Cobb: "Kadyn brings an ability to shoot the basketball and impact us defensively with her athleticism. She is someone who is committed to getting better every day and will impact our culture right away. Kadyn is an outstanding student and has experienced a lot of success in high school as a three-sport athlete."
Jordan Cunningham
6-0 | Guard | Grimes, Iowa | Dallas Center Grimes High School
Whitaker on Cunningham: "Jordan is a very skilled and smart wing who has the potential to impact us right away. She can shoot the ball, create at the rim and has a knack for hitting open teammates. Jordan has played high-level club basketball and understands what it takes to build a winning culture."
Mary Fultz
6-1 | Center | Stillwater, Minn. | Stillwater Area High School
Whitaker on Fultz: "Mary brings great length and versatility as an inside presence, but can also step out and shoot it. In addition to her shot blocking ability, Mary is going to be willing to do the dirty work to help our team win from day one. She is extremely coachable and someone who can really impact this program for four years."
Josie Weishaar
5-11 | Guard | Nortonville, Kan. | Jefferson County North High School
Whitaker on Weishaar: "Josie is a tremendous athlete who has proven she can really shoot with range. She's got great upside as she makes the transition to the college game and our coaching staff is excited to work with her."
The signing class is scheduled to join eight Griffons who will return from the 2019-20 team.
