Emporia State stings Griffon Soccer

Two Hornets score all five goals

EMPORIA, Kan. – Emporia State (7-2, 2-0) jumped on Griffon Soccer (3-5-1, 0-2) early and didn't let up, defeating Missouri Western 5-1, Friday afternoon.
 
NOTABLES
  • Mackenzie Dimarco scored the Hornets' first three goals of the game.
  • The Griffs trailed 2-0 in the 23rd minute after Dimarco goals in the second and 23rd minutes.
  • Down 2-0 at the break, Dimarco earned the hat trick in the first 30 seconds of the second half.
  • MaKenzie Billings put MWSU on the board in the 60th minute on an unassisted shot.
  • Daniella Cardona and Gabby Crowell scored goals less than a minute apart in the 77th and 78th minutes, respectively, to give ESU its fourth and fifth goals.
  • The five goals surrendered by MWSU were the most since the 2016 team gave up six at Central Missouri to end the regular season.
  • Emporia State totaled 27 shots in the game compared to three for MWSU. The Hornets out-shot the Griffons 13-0 in the first half.
