Griffons Return Home for First Home Games of 2018

GRIFFON SOCCER THIS WEEK
Friday, Sept. 21, 6 p.m. vs. Central Missouri (6-0)
Sunday, Sept. 23, 12:00 p.m. vs Lindenwood (2-3-1)
 
ST. JOSEPH – Missouri Western Soccer (4-2) will return to St. Joseph for its first two home games of the season this weekend. In the home opener on Friday night the Griffons will take on defending NCAA National Champions Central Missouri (6-0). On Sunday, the Griffons will face Lindenwood (2-3-1) again for the second time this season.

FIVE THINGS TO WATCH
  • Griffons will be looking for their first win over Central Missouri in program history
  • Missouri Western's game against Lindenwood will be a rematch of last week's game as the Griffon won 3-1 on the road.
  • The Griffon offense is scoring well recently and has scored nine goals in the last three games.
  • Missouri Western has continued to have a balanced attack on offense. The team has 11 goals on the season and only three players have multiple goals.
  • Anna Mayer has taken on the role of primary starter at goalkeeper, allowing just one goal in two games last weekend and earning her first career shutout against Northwest Missouri.
 
MISSOURI WESTERN LAST WEEK
  • The Griffons had their first 2-0 weekend of the season with wins over Lindenwood and Northwest Missouri.
  • Claire Meyers, Jordan Jennings, and Brooke Howe all scored their first goals of the 2018 season.
 
CENTRAL MISSOURI LAST WEEK
  • The Jennies defeated Northwest Missouri 4-1 on Friday.
  • UCM shut out Lindenwood on Sunday 3-0.
 
LINDENWOOD LAST WEEK
  • The Lions dropped both of their two games last weekend as they hosted Missouri Western on Friday and Central Missouri on Sunday.
  • Lindenwood struggled offensively over the weekend, scoring just one goal between the two weekend games.
 
MISSOURI WESTERN NOTES
  • The Griffons return to St. Joseph after playing their first six games of the season on the road.
  • Missouri Western has held its opponents to a .088 shot percentage this season.
