ST. JOSEPH – Griffon men's basketball closes out its Kansas road swing on Saturday night when it travels to Emporia State.
Both Missouri Western and Emporia State took the MIAA's top two teams tied for first place in the standings down to the wire Wednesday night. The Griffons fell to Washburn 78-74. Down the Kansas turnpike, the Hornets fell to No. 6 Northwest Missouri 55-50.
MWSU could force a three-way tie and control its destiny for the final spot in the MIAA Tournament with a win on Saturday. A win also gives Missouri Western head-to-head tiebreakers over Emporia State and Northeastern. Both, ESU and NSU, sit above the Griffons by one game in the latest MIAA standings.
