ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Missouri Western has moved up its weekend games as they travel to Fort Hays State. The Griffons and Tigers are now scheduled to play on Thursday starting at 7 p.m. and a double header on Friday at 3 p.m.
 
Previewing Missouri Western
Missouri Western sits 25-11 overall and 17-8 in the MIAA. They are currently tied for third in the MIAA standings with Washburn.  The Griffons have won four straight games, including a three game sweep of Central Oklahoma last weekend and a victory over Northwest Missouri on Wednesday night.

The Griffons offensive is outperforming opponents, scoring 326 runs compared to 251 runs. As a team, they are hitting .336 on the year and have hit 54 home runs, tying them for the MIAA lead. Shortstop Landon Mason is hitting .433 this year to lead the Griffons. Jeremy Alvarado is hitting .396 and leads the team with 12 home runs. Six others are hitting over .300 for the Griffons.

Alex Clavet has a team-low 3.86 ERA, tallying a 4-1 record and striking out 23 batters. Preston Bailey and Richard Peoples lead the Griffon with 47 and 41 strikeouts, respectively.  They have also combined for a 9-3 record. Weston Caindec and Evan Jones have a 7-1 overall record combined.

Previewing Fort Hays State
Fort Hays State is 17-19 overall and 11-14 in the MIAA. The Tigers are currently 10^th in the MIAA standings. Fort Hays has lost four of its last five games, dropping two against Lindenwood last weekend and falling to Nebraska-Kearney on Wednesday night.

The Tigers offense has been productive this year, hitting .320 as a team. They have three of the top hitters in the MIAA including Austin Unrein. Unrein is currently second in the MIAA standings with 60 hits this year. Conner Ross and Alex Weiss each have 55 hits. Defensively, the Tigers have turned an MIAA leading 40 double plays this year.

On the mound, D.J. Carr has pitched 68.1 innings and leads the team in 44 strikeouts. He has a 3-5 overall record in 12 appearances this year. Jackson Rolfs has been a solid reliever, recording a 3-1 record and striking out 14 batters this year.
