ST. JOSEPH – Griffon Soccer will make its third-straight postseason appearance as the No. 7-seeded Griffons travel to take on No. 2-seeded Fort Hays State on Wednesday night.
Missouri Western ended the regular season in a three-way tie with Emporia State and Lindenwood for fifth place in the MIAA standings, but losses to both left the Griffons with the No. 7 seed. Fort Hays State tied for the MIAA Regular Season Championship with Central Missouri, but received the No. 2 seed following a loss to UCM earlier in the season.
The Griffons completed the program's best-ever regular season, winning more overall games than any team in program history and tying the program mark for MIAA wins in a season. The fifth place tie in the MIAA standings was also the highest-ever for the program. Fort Hays State finished the regular season on an eight game win streak that included a 3-0 win over Missouri Western on Oct. 9 in Hays, Kansas. The Tigers outscored their opponents 17-2 during the win streak that included six shutouts.
Wednesday night's winner will move on to face the winner between No. 3-seeded Central Oklahoma and No. 6-seeded Emporia State on Nov. 4 at the site of the higher seed.
