ST. JOSEPH - Missouri Western Volleyball travels to #14Washburn, Saturday evening for a 6 p.m. match and then heads to Emporia State for a Sunday matinee match at 2 p.m. The Griffons face the Ichabods and Hornets for the second time in two weeks.
In their first match up, a 3-0 Ichabod win,
Kayla Ruff set a new program best as she finished with 29 digs as
Rachel Friedrichs ended with 10 kills. For the last two seasons, Washburn and Missouri Western had at least one match go five sets.
The last time the Griffons faced the Hornets, they made it the fourth consecutive season of a match going five sets. MWSU aced the Hornets 12 times in the previous match, with four from
Kayla Ruff and three from
Rachel Friedrichs. Friedrichs would combine with
Kelsey Olion for 29 kills in the 3-2 loss.
Missouri Western is currently tied for sixth place in the MIAA standings with Fort Hays State and trails #15 Central Missouri by a half game for fifth place. Washburn will be the first of four ranked opponents for MWSU in their next six games.
