ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Missouri Western hosts Lindenwood, Saturday, in the second matchup between the two teams in the last seven days. The Griffons will look to snap a two-game skid that was started by the Lions last Saturday in St. Charles.
THE GRIFFONSThe Griffons have dropped two-straight and five of their last seven. Wednesday night, MWSU dropped a 59-58 heartbreaker to rival Northwest Missouri State. On Jan. 31, the Griffons fell 66-57 at Lindenwood.
Corterz Colbert's impressive senior season continues. The guard is averaging 15.5 points per game and has scored 17 or more in all of the Griffons MIAA games.
Kevin Thomas adds 8.3 per game and leads the team with 5.6 rebounds per game.
Missouri Western continues to fight through close games with the season scoring average margin at a half a point between the Griffons and their opponents. MWSU averages 67.7 per game while allowing 68.2.
LINDENWOOD LIONS Lindenwood enters the weekend atop the MIAA standings with a half-game lead over Pittsburg State. The Lions are the only team to already clinch their spot in the MIAA postseason tournament.
Cory Arentsen still leads the team with 15.7 points per game. He also adds 4.7 rebounds per contest and has made 49 three-pointers on 49 percent shooting from behind the arc. Darris Smith is averaging 13 a game for Lindenwood and Sam Mader's 5.2 rebounds per game are the team's most.
Lindenwood is outscoring opponents by 7.6 points per game (74.3-66.6). They shoot 50 percent from the field, 45 percent from three-point range and 74 percent at the free throw line.
THE SERIESLindenwood's win last week improved their all-time record to 4-0 against Missouri Western. The Lions have won both matchups in St. Joseph and two more in St. Charles.
