ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Missouri Western has clinched a spot in the MIAA Tournament for the second straight year. The Griffons will travel to Northeastern St. as the sixth seed in the tournament taking on the third seeded RiverHawks on Wednesday night.

Previewing Missouri Western:

• The Griffons finished the regular season with a 9-7-1 record and 5-5-1 conference record
• Missouri Western is currently the sixth seed entering the tournament
• Missouri Western has a 3-5-1 record in away games this season
• Bridget Blessie leads the team with five goals this season, four of which have been game-winning goals
• Sydney Cluck has three goals while Sydney Andrews and Cassidy Chappell each tallied two goals
• Blessie currently averages 2.76 shots per game (9^th in the MIAA)
• Defensively, the Griffons have allowed just .82 goals per game and 191 total shots
• Paige Phipps and Taylor Gant have helped limit opponents to just 91 shots on goal all season
• Sarah Lyle has a save percent of .85 (2^nd in the MIAA)
• Lyle has recorded 75 saves on the year and allowed just 13 goals all season
• The Griffons are currently 8-0-1 when recording at least 10 shots against opponents
• MWSU has allowed multiple goals in just one game this season which was at Central Missouri on October 23^rd

 
Previewing Northeastern State:

• The RiverHawks finished the regular season with a record of 13-4-1 overall and 7-3-1 in conference play
• Northeastern earned the third seed going into the tournament
• NSU has an 8-1 record at home this season
• Anastasia Robinson has 12 goals and nine assist this year, tallying 33 points (1^st in the MIAA)
• Julia Mathis, Jennifer Cudjoe, and Robinson each rank in the top-10 of the MIAA for shots per game
• As a team, NSU has tallied 343 shots on goal and allowed 176 shots for opponents
• The RiverHawks have tallied 19.06 shots per game
• Jordan Woodruff has tallied 1495 minutes in goal and has allowed just 14 goals this season
• Woodruff recorded 53 total saves this year and a save percentage of .791
• NSU has a record of 8-0-1 when scoring at least three goals or more in a game

Last Meeting:
The Griffons suffered a 1-0 loss to Northeastern State on September 27^th when the RiverHawks scored in the 62^nd minute to claim the victory over the Griffons.

MIAA Tournament Last Season:
The Griffons were the sixth seed last season and played against the third seeded Fort Hays State. MWSU lost in the first round of the MIAA tournament to Fort Hays State in double overtime. The Tigers scored in the 108^th minute to prevail over the Griffons.

The RiverHawks were the eighth seed last season and faced off against Central Missouri the one seed and eventual winner of the tournament. NSU suffered a 3-0 loss in the first round.
