ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Missouri Western men will look to snap a two-game skid when they travel to Bolivar, Missouri to take on Southwest Baptist on Saturday. The Griffons will be playing their first road game since Jan. 5, an 81-77 overtime win at Nebraska-Kearney.

THE SERIES
Missouri Western split two games with Southwest Baptist last year, winning in St. Joseph and losing at Bolivar in the last game of the 2013-14 regular season. That game marks the last time the Griffons surrendered 100 points to an opponent. MWSU leads the all-time series 46-31, but SBU holds a 20-12 advantage in Bolivar. First year SBU coach, Clark Sheehy faces MWSU for the first time. Brett Weiberg is 1-1 against the Bearcats.

THE GRIFFONS
Missouri Western sits 7-8 overall and 3-5 in the MIAA after dropping two straight conference games in the MWSU fiedlhouse. The Griffons dropped the final game of a four-game home stand, 64-58 to No. 25 Central Missouri on Wednesday.

Cortrez Colbert leads the way for the Griffons, averaging 14.8 points per game. The senior guard has scored 20 or more in five of the team's last seven games. Freshman Cole Clearman is adding 9.1 points per game and is averaging more than 10 points per game in MIAA play.

Missouri Western averages 68.7 points per game, while allowing opponents 68.4. The team shoots 43 percent from the field and 36 percent behind the arc. At the free throw line, MWSU is shooting 65 percent.

SOUTHWEST BAPTIST BEARCATS
Southwest Baptist enters with an 8-9 overall record, 3-5 in MIAA play after losing 77-73 at Northwest Missouri on Wednesday. The Bearcats have also dropped their last two games after winning three in a row.

Menas Stephens came into the week averaging a double-double. He was leading the team with 11.1 points per game and 10.1 rebounds (1st in MIAA). Daymond Cowlah entered the week averaging 10.4 points per game. Quinton Smith is 44 percent from three-point range with 21 made threes coming into this week.

Going into their game against Northwest Missouri State, SBU was averaging 67.2 points per game and giving up 67.2 per contest. The Bearcats were shooting 42 percent from the field, 33 percent from three-point range and 71 percent at the line.

LAST YEAR'S MEETINGS
MWSU 97, SBU 100 at Bolivar, Mo. on Mar. 1, 2014
Despite falling 100-97 in their regular season finale against the Southwest Baptist Bearcats the Griffon men's basketball team will make the MIAA Tournament as the 12th seed by virtue of Pittsburg State's overtime loss against Washburn. Ryan Devers scored a career-high 40 points and became the first Griffon to hit 40 points in at least 13 seasons. The Griffons end their season 10-17 overall and 5-14 in MIAA play.

MWSU 89, SBU 84 at St. Joseph, Mo. on Jan. 18, 2014
The Missouri Western men scored 52 second half points and made 38-of-50 free throws coming away with an 89-84 victory over the Southwest Baptist Bearcats. Charlie Marquardt scored a career high 23 points making 11-of-15 free throws and 6-of-7 field goals helping the Griffons improve to 8-9 overall and 3-6 in MIAA play.

The Griffons get a week off before facing Missouri Southern at home on the 24th. It's then two on the road, with MWSU closing out January at Lincoln on the 29th and Lindenwood on the 31st.,
