Football Looks for Bounce Back Win Against RiverHawks

MWSU Game Notes | Season Stats | Live Stats | Live Video | Live Audio | NSU Season Stats | MIAA Standings

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Missouri Western Football will look for a bounce back win Saturday night at Spratt Stadium when they host Northeastern State. It's Military Appreciation Day at Spratt Stadium and also Family Day at Missouri Western.

The RiverHawks come in winless on the season after dropping games to Pittsburg State and Fort Hays. The Griffons are 1-1 on the season and in the MIAA. Last week, MWSU saw its 14-game, regular season road winning streak snapped. The 26-17 loss was the team's first ever to Central Oklahoma. This week, the Griffons again face a team they have never lost to. MWSU holds a 4-0 all-time record in the series. It will be the first time the Griffons have a loss going into a game against NSU. Missouri Western was 5-0 in both 2012 and 2013 going into games with the RiverHawks and 1-0 in both 1994 and 1995 prior to wins over NSU. All four Griffon wins in the series have come in impressive fashion. The average margin of victory in the series is 28.75 points.

The Griffons remain ranked No. 24 in the D2Football.com poll and are still receiving votes in the American Football Coaches Association poll.

Kickoff is set for 6 p.m., Saturday night. The first 1,000 fans will receive a free Griffon Red, White and Blue t-shirt courtesy of Fastgas, US Bank and Nestle Purina.
