Griffon Notes
• This marks the 38th season of Griffons women's basketball
• The Griffons will be under 2nd year head coach Rob Edmisson who guided the Griffons to a 16-12 overall record and 8-10 in MIAA play. The Griffons went 1-1 in the MIAA tournament a year ago defeating Pittsburg State 71-67 and falling to #13 Central Missouri 54-53.
• The Griffons have struggled away from the fieldhouse this season falling in seven of their eight road games which includes going 0-5 in MIAA play. The Griffons only road win of the season came against the Rockhurst Hawks on November 23 by a score of 63-59.
• On the other hand the Griffons have been pretty good at home going 8-2 in the fieldhouse and 4-2 in MIAA play in the fieldhouse. They beat the UNK Lopers in MIAA play back on January 6 but fell to Fort Hays State and Washburn. They also beat the Southwest Baptist Bearcats 73-63 as well as the Lincoln Blue Tigers 42-28  and the Lindenwood Lions 65-62 last week.
• Edmisson won a NAIA National Championship at Oklahoma State University in 2011-12.
• Wednesday's meeting was the 63rd meeting with the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats. The Griffons are 31-27 overall and 18-8 at home and 16-13 on the road. Northwest also leads 3-0 in games that are unsure where they are played.
• Saturday's meeting will mark the 4th all-time game against the Lindenwood Lions. The Griffons are 3-0 after winning last weekends game 65-62. They also won last years meeting in St. Joseph by a score of 65-59 on January 16. This will mark the first meeting between the two teams in St. Charles.
• When the Griffons have at least one player score in double figures they are 7-8 on the season. When they don't have a player score in double figures they are 2-2.
• In two years under Edmisson the Griffons are 8-14 in road games and 2-13 in road MIAA games. They are 17-5 overall in home games and 10-5 in home MIAA games.
• Since 1988-89 the Griffons are 5-2 on Febryary 5. They are 3-2 at home and 2-0 on the road. The last time they played a team on the 5th in 2011 when they Griffons fell at home 67-61 against Missouri Southern. The Griffons have not played Northwest Missouri State on the 5th.  The Griffons vacted a victory in 2007.
• Since 1988-89 the Griffons are 3-2 on February 8. They are 1-0 at home with and 2-2 on the road. The last game on February 8 in 2006 a game they had to vacate.  The Griffons have never faced Lindenwood on the 8th.
• The Griffons were picked to finish 8th in both the Coaches and Media MIAA Preseason polls.

Coaches vs. Each Program - NWMSU:
Coach Edmisson is 1-1 against the Bearcats winning at home and losing on the road. Northwest Missouri State Head Coach Mike Smith is 5-6 against the Griffons. He is 3-2 in Kirksville, 1-4 in St. Joseph and 1-0 on a neutral court.

Series vs. the Bearcats:
The Bearcats and the Griffons have met 62 times on the hardwood in the history of the two schools. The Griffons hold a 35-27 advantage, but had to vacate four victories in the series so they lead 31-27. Western is 20-8 in the fieldhouse but had to vacate two victories so hold a 18-8 lead. Northwest leads 16-14 in the seris in Maryville. The Griffons had to vacate one victory so they are 16-13.  On a neutral floor Western is 1-0 but had to vacate that victory. There are three Northwest victories in the 1973-74 season that are undefined on a location.

The Coaches vs. Each Program:
Rob Edmisson is 2-0 against Lindenwood while Tony Francis falls to 0-2 against the Griffons. Edmisson is 2-0 in St. Joseph against the Lions.

Series vs. the Lady Lions:
The Griffons and the Lady Lions have met just three times in history. The Griffons improved to 3-0 all-time with their 65-62 victory last Saturday in the fieldhouse. Last season they won 65-59 victory on January 16, 2013 in St. Joseph. The Griffons won the first meeting 99-47 in the 1982-83 season in St. Joseph, Mo.

Struggles at the Free Throw Line:
The Griffons have struggled at the free throw line  shooting just 59.1-percent (254-430) on the season. Just two Griffons are shooting better than 70-percent on the season. Against Lincoln the Griffons were just 10-19 from the free throw line. In their victory against Southwest Baptist the Griffons made 16-of-22 free throws all of which were in the second half.

Struggles on the Road:
The Griffons have made just 53.9-percent (96-178) of their free throws on the road. They are also getting outscored 68.4 to 58.0 but are even in rebounding. They shoot just 28.3-percent (36-127) form long range and 36.6-percent (166-454) from the field. The only player scoring in double figures on the road is Quenisha Locket averaging 10.9 points per game.

Balanced Attack:
The Griffons have three active players who average 6.0 points per game or more and have nine active players who play 13 or more minutes a game. The Griffons do not have one player scoring in double figures. Nine different Griffons scored in the Griffons victory over Lindenwood. Thirteen different Griffons scored in the Griffon victory over Missouri Valley while ten different Griffons scored in the Griffons victory over the Southwest Baptist Bearcats. Ten different Griffons also scored against Missouri Southern. Nine different Griffons scored in their victory over Lincoln.

Rebounding Success:
The Griffons have had success rebounding the ball this season averaging nearly 3.3 more rebounds per game than their opponents. They have 88 more offensive rebounds on the season. Tiara Hall and Quenisha Lockett lead the way with 6.2 and 6.1 rebounds per game respectively. Against Lindenwood the Griffons got outrebounded 42-38 but did outrebound the Lions 14-8 on the offensive end when led to 12 second chance points. Against Lincoln they outrebounded the Blue Tigers 39-32 and had 14 offensive rebounds to Lincoln's 8. Against SBU they had 41 rebounds to the Bearcats 34. Both teams had 14 offensive rebounds. Against Missouri Southern they outrebounded the Lions 39-27 and 22-1 on the offensive end of the floor.
