Tickets | Live Stats | Live Audio | Live Video ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Griffon Men's Basketball returns to the MWSU Fieldhouse Monday night after dropping three-straight on the road last week. The Griffons host Hannibal-LaGrange at 7 p.m. in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
The GriffonsLosses at Upper Iowa and to East Central and No. 4 Drury in Springfield put the Griffons at 2-3 on the season.
The team came short of an upset bid at No. 4 Drury Saturday. Missouri Western had a five-point lead going into halftime after shooting 65 percent from the field, including 10, first-half, points from
Ryan Devers. MWSU went cold in the second frame, shooting just 38 percent in the half, while Drury shot 65 percent and pulled away for the 10-point win.
The Griffons are averaging 65.8 points per game, while allowing 71.4. The team is shooting 41 percent from the field and has outrebounded opponents by an average of 3.4 per game.
Kevin Thomas leads the team with 11.4 points per game and is the only Griffon scoring in double-figures.
Ryan Devers (9.8) and
Currie Byrd (9.6) aren't far off. Devers is the team's leading three-point shooter, going 11-25 from behind the arc for 44 percent. Thomas also leads the team on the boards, averaging 6.4 per contest.
Hannibal-LaGrange University TrojansAn NAIA university located in Hannibal, Missouri, the Trojans are members of the American Midwest Conference and enter with a record of 1-6. Hannibal-LaGrange is coming off a 62-58 loss at Culver-Stockton on Nov. 25. The Trojans lone victory came on Nov. 22 at Missouri Baptist, 63-61.
The team is shooting 36 percent from the field and 30 percent from three-point range. Jay Jones is the only Trojan averaging double-digits, scoring 15.6 points per game. Stephen Campbell is the team's leading three-point shooter, going 7-17 (41%) from behind the arc. Joe Reed averages a team-high, 5.3 rebounds per game.
MIAA Play BeginsMissouri Western will play its first MIAA doubleheader this weekend when the Women and Men travel to Fort Hays State on Saturday, Dec. 6.
