A three-game homestand begins Friday afternoon when Missouri Western hosts first place Central Missouri. MWSU tied the school record for wins in a season with their eighth victory this past Friday at Nebraska Kearney. The 1-0 win also improved MWSU's program best winning streak to five games. With four matches left in the season, the Griffons have set new marks for shutouts in a season, best start and head coach
Chad Edwards became the program's winningest coach with his 18
th career win on Oct. 10.
The Griffons: A shutdown defense has allowed an MIAA-low, seven goals all season and only three in the Griffons last nine matches. Missouri Western's last nine contests have been decided by a 1-0 score with MWSU winning five straight after dropping the first three. Missouri Western has shutout opponents, a record, eight times this season.
Sarah Lyle,
Sydney Andrews and
Taylor Gant anchor the back end of that impressive defensive unit. With two MIAA Athlete of the Week honors between them (Lyle and Gant), Missouri Western has truly made the net a "goal" for opponents. Lyle leads the MIAA with a 0.48 goals against average and a .903 save percentage. The defense is holding opponents to an MIAA low, .048 shot percentage and a .486 shots on goal percentage.
Offensively, MWSU is averaging one goal per game on 13.6 shots per contest with a .555 shot percentage. The Griffons have kept their offensive output balanced with five goals in both the first and second periods. Missouri Western has also scored one goal in the first overtime period and three in the second this season.
Tara Russell leads the team with four goals and 10 points.

Bridget Blessie have scored two goals apiece.
Central Missouri: The Griffons will face the undefeated Jennies twice in the remaining four games. UCM has scored 36 goals, while allowing just eight. They average 2.57 per contest and are allowing .57. Four Jennies have scored five or more goals, led by Alex Yockey's seven. Hannah Pyle, Julie Ireland and Mikala Modiri each have five goals. Ana Dilkes has started all 14 matches in goal for the Jennies. She has equaled Lyle's shutout mark with eight and enters with a .56 goals against average and a .857 save percentage.
Lindenwood: The Lions are one of five teams to defeat MWSU this year, defeating the Griffons 1-0 on Sept. 21 in St. Charles. Lindenwood has found the net 15 times this season while allowing 18 goals. Becky Roberts has five of those goals for the Lions, the most on the team. Three other players have two goals each, with 11 of the team's 15 goals scored by four players. Melissa Weiss has eight starts in goal with Lauren Groathouse adding five starts as a goalkeeper. Groathouse has an .844 save percentage and a 1.30 goals against average. Weiss has allowed a 1.28 goals against average and has a .738 save percentage.

th Annual Pink Week. At the home volleyball & soccer games during this time, Pink Week t-shirts will be sold for the cost of a donation (minimum $5.00 or more is suggested). Pink ribbons will also be sold for $1.00 with all of the proceeds being donated to the Heartland Auxiliary Breast Center at Heartland Regional Medical Center with this year's goal being set at $2500.
