SOCCER FALLS IN MIAA ACTION AGAINST 18TH RANKED BRONCHOS, 1-0

MWSU is 3-5 overall and 1-3 in MIAA play

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Griffon soccer team played hard but could not come up with the upset over the 18th ranked Central Missouri Bronchos. The Griffons fell 1-0 and now are 3-5 overall and 1-3 in MIAA play.

The Griffons were able to hold the 18th ranked Bronchos offense in check in the first half giving up zero goals. MWSU goalie Kelly Voigts made some outstanding saves helping the Griffons go into the half tied, 0-0.
MWSU had just one shot by AJ Powers which made it on goal. UCO had 12 shots with six on goal. Brittni Walker led the charge with four shots and two on goal. UCO had three corner kicks while both teams had four fouls in the frame.

The Bronchos put on a lot of pressure in the second half with 14 shots. In the 67th minute UCO got the game winning goal when Walker scored her seventh goal of the season. UCO improves to 9-1 overall and 4-0 in MIAA action.

Voigts had an outstanding evening in net making 10 saves with numerous highlight reel saves.

The Bronchos were led y Walker with six shots with three on goal. Meagan Burke improved to 8-1 in net for the Bronchos.

MWSU return to action on Sunday, September 30 host the Northeastern State University RiverHawks. Game time is set for 12:00 pm in Spratt Stadium.
