GRIFFON SOCCER TAKES ON MIAA NEWCOMERS CENTRAL OKLAHOMA AND NORTHEASTERN STATE THIS WEEKEND AT HOME

Missouri Western's soccer team lost a nail-biter last weekend against Northwest Missouri State, falling 1-0 in double overtime. It was the second-straight game that went into extra minutes for the Griffons.

The Griffons host Central Oklahoma at 7 p.m. Friday and close the weekend with a noon game against Northeastern State on Sunday, September 30.

Kelly Voigts has played in the net every minute this year, grabbing 44 saves with a .830 save percentage. Leading the Griffons with four goals is sophomore Katie Kempf, who also has two assists on the season.

The Griffons are tied for the 8th spot in the MIAA Standings.

About Central Oklahoma: The Bronchos are ranked 18th in the nation after defeating Lindenwood 3-2. They are tied for 1st with a 3-0 record in the MIAA and are 8-1 overall. Brittni Walker has six goals this season leading the way for the Bronchos. This is the first match between the two schools.

About Northeastern State: The Riverhawks are 6-1 and 5th in the MIAA with a 2-1 record. They started out with a 6-0 record before losing their first game last Sunday to Truman State 4-2. Rachel Sordahl has a team-high eight goals despite only playing in five games. This is the first meeting between the two teams.

Up Next: The Griffons play four straight road games, starting with a trip to Topeka Kan. on Friday, October 6th against Washburn. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
