Mitch Mellert joined the MoWest Athletics staff in August 2025 as the Director of Athletic Communications after earning his Master of Business Administration in Organizational Management from Mount Vernon Nazarene University earlier that year. He previously completed his Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management with a minor in Marketing from MVNU in 2023.
Mellert spent two years as a Graduate Assistant to the Sports Information Director at Mount Vernon Nazarene after serving as a Student Assistant during his undergraduate career. During his time at MVNU, he gained experience in athletic communications, gameday operations, live statistics, graphic design, social media, and event coverage.
As a Graduate Assistant, Mellert supported 22 athletic programs by operating live stats through PrestoSports, managing home event coverage, and traveling with teams for postseason competition coverage. His responsibilities included maintaining records, updating archives, social media content, and writing press releases, game notes, and recaps for MVNU Athletics.
Mellert is a member of the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
