Katelynn Martinez was promoted to Assistant Director of Athletics – Visits & Events on August 31, 2026. In her new role, Martinez reports directly to the Director of Athletics and takes on increased responsibilities focused on recruiting visits, facilities, events and game management.
Martinez helps ensure MWSU athletic facilities maintain a "Recruit Ready" appearance, both inside and out, while bridging responsibilities between facilities, game day experience and recruiting visits. She also serves in game management roles for Griffon Women's Soccer, Cross Country and Women's Lacrosse.
Martinez joined MWSU Athletics after spending her professional career at Western Colorado University, where she worked closely with both the men's and women's basketball programs.
BEFORE MWSU
Martinez graduated from Western Colorado University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration before beginning her professional career as Director of Women's Basketball Operations in August 2018.
She held that position until March 2022 before transitioning to Director of Men's Basketball Operations in April 2022. During her time with both programs, Martinez spearheaded fundraising initiatives, including the Dunk Club, which raised more than $40,000 in one year. She also organized multiple events that raised more than $2,400 to benefit cancer patients and local cancer foundations.
In addition to her fundraising efforts, Martinez managed team travel arrangements and worked closely with head and assistant coaches on day-to-day operations.
