Tanner Anderson

Tanner Anderson was named the assistant strength coach and equipment coordinator at Missouri Western in January of 2021.  Anderson is the program's first full-time assistant strength coach after serving in a similar capacity as a graduate assistant.  He will also oversee the equipment staff.

"Tanner has been invaluable to Missouri Western in his time here as a graduate assistant and definitely was a centerpiece in holding things together with the trying year of 2020,"  Mandich said. "He has done a great job for me and our student athletes work hard for him and respect him.  He is a smart young coach with a very high ceiling in his career."

A native of Derby, Kansas, Tanner has been Missouri Western's graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach since January of 2019 and served two brief stints as interim head strength and conditioning coach in April of 2019 and June-July of 2020. Anderson completed his Master of Applied Science degree in Sport and Fitness Management at MWSU  in December of 2020.

"I am thrilled to officially join the Missouri Western staff in this new role," Anderson said. "I want to thank Coach Mandich and Dr. (Josh) Looney for having the faith in me to continue my career here. Having already been with the Griffons for the past two years will give me the ability to hit the ground running without missing a beat. I value my relationships with our student-athletes. I am passionate about this program and focusing on the daily development and improvement of our programs."

Tanner graduated from the University of South Dakota in 2018 and was a three-year letter-winner for the Coyotes' football team, making 27 career starts. He began his strength and conditioning career with internships at USD and Virginia Tech. Tanner's brother, Travis Anderson was All-MIAA offensive lineman for the Griffons from 2012-2016
