Signe Coombs transitioned to Director of Academic Services in 2016 and was named Senior Woman Administrator in 2018. She is responsible for monitoring and developing academic process for more than 275 student-athletes at MWSU. 

Prior to her current role, Coombs was the assistant volleyball coach at Missouri Western for three seasons. She helped engineer a three-year turnaround for the program. 

In 2013, the team recorded its first overall winning record since 2006 and first winning MIAA record since 2000. In 2014, Missouri Western Volleyball won more MIAA matches (16-6) than any team in program history and recorded the most overall wins (22-8) since 1997 (25). In 2015, the team finished 21-10 overall and 12-6 in the MIAA, finishing fifth in the conference for the second straight season. 

At least four Griffons were named All-MIAA each season Coombs was an assistant. Six received the distinction in both 2014 and 2015 and four were named all-conference in 2013. In 2014, the team had two first team Academic All-American selections (Sarah Faubel and Erica Rottinghaus.) Rottinghaus was also named AVCA First Team All-America in 2014. Many individual and team records were also set during her tenure as a coach, including Faubel becoming the program's all-time digs leader in 2014 and Jessie Thorup becoming the program's rally scoring era kills leader in 2015. 

Coombs played for four years at the University of Iowa as a defensive specialist from 2007-10 and was the team's captain her senior season.

She spent the 2012 season with Missouri S&T, helping the Lady Miners to a 20-13 overall record and a GLVC West Division title.

In 2011-12, she was the head freshman and assistant varsity coach at Sweetwater High School in San Diego, California. While in San Diego, she also coached the Coast club volleyball program. Mueller also served as an admissions counselor at Ashford University in San Diego.

Coombs earned her bachelor's degree in communications with a minor in psychology. She was a member of the Dean's list and an Academic All-Big Ten selection in 2008-09. She coached the Iowa Rockets volleyball club for five seasons (2007-11) and led the 16 and under team to the Amateur Athletics Union (AAU) national championship in 2011. In 2016, Coombs earned her masters degree from Missouri Western in Sport and Recreation Management. 

Signe and husband Aaron, the assistant men's basketball coach at MWSU, reside in St. Joseph with their daughter.
