OUTSIDE OF MWSU
Stacked with NCAA Division I and international experience, Abston arrived in St. Joseph after working as a women's basketball assistant coach at the University of Missouri-Kansas City for the 2022-23 season. Prior to UMKC, Abston was an assistant coach for North Dakota State Women's Basketball from 2021-22. Abston started her coaching career in Stockholm, Sweden, beginning a three-year stay for Fryshuset Basket Women's Division I Team as an assistant from 2017-18. She then became head coach for the Fryshuset Basket Girls Under 17 Team from 2018-19, where she guided six players to invitations to play for the Swedish National Team in the European Championship before wrapping up her time in Sweden as the assistant coach for the women's team from 2019-20.

Abston's collegiate playing career spans across Division I and II, coincidentally ending in the MIAA. She started at Georgia Tech in 2010-11, playing in 16 games during the Yellow Jackets' ride to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She left her mark after playing two seasons at George Mason, setting the school record with seven 3-pointers in a game. Overall, her 131 career 3-pointers are currently the 11th most in Patriots history. Once she graduated from George Mason, Abston used her final year of eligibility to transfer to Emporia State for the 2015-16 season, leading the Hornets with 13.0 points and 5.9 rebounds per game en route to a 28-6 record, an MIAA Championship and a Sweet 16 appearance.

Once she left Emporia State, Abston went on to play for TV Saarlouis Royals in the first division in Germany. Ten years prior, Abston was a part of the Swedish National Team from 2007-13, where she was no stranger to winning. Abston played in the EuroCup from 2008-10 and became a Swedish National Champion with 08 Stockholm in 2010.
