#43 Tony Loeffler

Tony Loeffler enters his eighth season as an assistant coach for the Griffons after playing two seasons  (2011-2012) under Verduzco.

2017 saw Loeffler help MWSU qualify for the NCAA Regional for back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history. David Glaude and Nick Gawley rewrote the career record books during the season as the duo became the all-time leaders in doubles, home runs, stolen bases and RBIs as each was named All-MIAA and All-Region. Glaude also garned CoSIDA Academic All-District selection.  Under Loeffler's coaching 12 Griffons were named All-MIAA with Dusty Stroup being tabbed as Co-Freshman of the Year.

In 2016, Loeffler helped lead Missouri Western to its third NCAA Regional Appearance in program history. The team won the second most games in program history (38-20) and advanced to the championship game of the MIAA Tournament, falling to eventual Division II World Series qualifier Central Missouri. Several team offensive records were broken and 11 Griffons were named All-MIAA. David Glaude was named second team All-American. Glaude and Landon Mason were also named All-Region by the Division II College Commissioner's Association, National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and ABCA/Rawlings. 

Loeffler helped the Griffons to a 29-21 overall record in 2015 and 22-14 MIAA record. The Griffons finished 5th in the MIAA standings and faced Washburn in the first round of the MIAA tournament. Banks Born and Ryan Degner were named second team All-MIAA while Richard Peoples and Cody Childs earned third team honors for the Griffons. A.J. Martinez, Cosimo Cannella, David Glaude, Trevor LaHonta and Orencio Fisher were all honorable mention All-MIAA. 

Loeffler helped the Griffons to another solid season in 2014 as they finished 4th in the MIAA with a 32-20 overall and 24-14 in MIAA play. The Griffons also went to the MIAA Tournament Championship for the second straight season. His pitching staff had a 4.56 ERA while Jake Jones and Mason Queen earned honorable mention All-MIAA honors. 

In 2013 Loeffler, helped the Griffons to their best season in school history finishing with a 40-12 overall record and a 28-5 MIAA record. The Griffons won the MIAA Regular Season Title for the first time in school history and made their second ever NCAA Regional appearance (2006). The pitching staff had a 3.97 ERA with Brandon Simmons earning MIAA Pitcher of the Year as well as numerous all Region Honors. He was also an honorable mention All-America selection by the NCBWA. Simmons was named first team All-MIAA while Logan Hollingsworth was an honorable mention selection.

In his two year career at  Missouri Western Loeffler played in 85 games with 72 games starts. He hit .249 with 48 hits and just 29 strikeouts. He scored 31 runs and had 37 RBI. He had 11 doubles, one triple and one home run. He had just two errors with 395 putouts and 60 assists. He was an honorable mention All-MIAA selection as a junior.

As a senior Loeffler won Gold Glove honors and was named the Division II Defensive Player of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association. Loeffler was also an All-South Central Region “Gold Glove” winner playing  in 45 of the Griffons 51 games with 43 starts behind the plate. He held a 1.000 fielding percentage with 227 putouts and 32 assists. Offensively he had 24 hits with 22 runs scored to go along with six doubles, one home run and 17 RBI’s.

In 2011 he was an  honorable mention All-MIAA catcher playing in 40 games with 29 starts behind the plate. He had a slugging percentage of .352 with a .273 batting average. Loefflers best game was when he went 3-4 with four RBI against Northwest Missouri on April 2, 2011.

Before coming to Missouri Western he played at Skyline Community College where he was a First Team All-Conference selection.

Loeffler played his high school baseball at Mills High school in Millbrae Calif. where he was an All-League selection as a senior and inducted into his high schools Baseball Hall of Fame.

Tony graduated with a degree in communications in December 2012 from Missouri Western and received his Master of Applied Science in Sport and Fitness Management from Missouri Western in May of 2016.
