Jacob Barlage joins Griffon Football coaching staff

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Griffon head football coach Tyler Fenwick has announced the addition of Jacob Barlage to the Griffon football coaching staff as the program's assistant coach working with the quarterbacks.

Barlage joins the Griffons on August 1, 2026, after coaching at both the collegiate and high school levels. Most recently, he served as the running backs coach at the University of Redlands while also working as the special teams coordinator and offensive assistant at Norco High School in California. In those roles, he assisted with offensive game planning, film breakdown, recruiting, scouting reports, and player development.

A former standout quarterback, Barlage brings an accomplished playing background to the Griffons. He helped Riverside City College capture the 2019 CCCAA National Championship, earning Championship Game MVP, Quarterfinal MVP, and First Team All-Conference honors while setting the California state record with eight touchdown passes in a single game.

Barlage continued his collegiate career at the University of Nevada before finishing at Northwood University, where he was a two-year starting quarterback. During his time with the Timberwolves, he set the school's single-season passing yards record, earned GMAC Player of the Week honors in both 2023 and 2024, and served as a team captain during his senior season.

Barlage earned a bachelor's degree in community health with a concentration in kinesiology from the University of Nevada in 2023 before completing a master's degree in organizational leadership from Northwood University in 2025.
