ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Griffon Baseball (21-17, 14-11MIAA) returns to conference play this week following two non-conference matchups, continuing its MIAA stretch with a home game before heading on the road for a key league series. The Griffons look to stay hot after winning 11 of their last 12 games.
MWSU hosts Emporia State on Tuesday, April 14 at 5 p.m. at the Spring Sports Complex in the season series finale against the Hornets.
Emporia State clinched the season series on March 31 with an 8-3 win, marking the Griffons' only loss during their current stretch of 11 wins in the last 12 games. The Hornets also captured the first meeting in St. Joseph on March 18, 10-8.
Then the Griffons travel to Joplin for a three-game MIAA series against Missouri Southern, beginning Friday, April 17 at 5 p.m., followed by Saturday, April 18 at 1 p.m. and Sunday, April 19 at 1 p.m.
The weekend series presents an important opportunity for MWSU to continue climbing the conference standings as the regular season enters its final stretch.
Micah Kobuszewski was a standout last week during the three-game stretch, going 8-for-14 (.571) with seven runs scored, 2 triples and five RBI while helping Griffon Baseball to three wins.
In a 7-3 win over No. 29 helping secure the season series over Northwest Missouri State (Apr. 8), Kobuszewski went 2-for-5 with a triple and two RBI. He followed with a perfect day at the plate in an 18-7 win over Rockhurst (Apr. 10), finishing 4-for-4 with five runs scored, two RBI, a triple, and a walk. He closed the week in an 8-7 win over Rockhurst (Apr. 12), going 2-for-5 with an RBI.
Over the three games, Kobuszewski recorded a hit in each contest and multiple hits in all three, finishing with a .600 on-base percentage and an .857 slugging percentage while consistently sparking the Griffon offense.
Kobuszewski has recorded a hit in 15 straight games and continues to swing one of the hottest bats for the Griffons, who have won 11 of their last 12.

Griffon Baseball closes out its final road trip of the regular season next week, beginning with a midweek matchup at Northwest Missouri State on Wednesday, Apr. 22 at 3 p.m. MWSU then travels to Arkansas-Fort Smith for a three-game MIAA series, starting Friday, Apr. 24 at 1 p.m., followed by games on Saturday, Apr. 25 and Sunday, Apr. 26, both scheduled for 1 p.m.
