ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Griffon Baseball (9-14, 4-8 MIAA) split Saturday's doubleheader with Fort Hays State at Griffon Baseball Field at the Spring Sports Complex. The Tigers took game one 8-3 before MoWest responded with a 6-3 victory in game two.
In game one, Fort Hays State struck early with three runs in the first inning and added another in the second to take a 4-0 lead. The Griffons answered in the second inning when Ricky Requejo scored on a wild pitch before Issac Sobieszcyk delivered a two-RBI single to left field, bringing home Micah Kobuszewski and Seth Winkler to cut the deficit to 4-3.
The Tigers pulled away with a two-run double in the third inning and added two more runs in the fourth to secure the 8-3 win.
MoWest bounced back in game two with a big second inning. Ben Waliczek drove in David De Hoyos with an RBI single before Jordan Austin followed with a sacrifice fly to score Issac Huettl. Luke Parmentier then delivered a two-RBI double to left field, bringing home Waliczek and Micah Kobuszewski to give the Griffons a 4-0 lead.
Fort Hays State chipped away with two unearned runs in the third inning and another run in the fifth to cut the lead to 4-3.
The Griffons added insurance in the sixth inning. Issac Huettl doubled to left field to score De Hoyos, and Easton O'Keefe followed with an RBI single that plated Huettl to extend the lead to 6-3.
MoWest held the Tigers scoreless over the final innings to secure the game two victory and earn the split.

MoWest will wrap up its homestand on Tuesday, March 17, hosting Emporia State at 3 p.m. at Griffon Baseball Field at the Spring Sports Complex.
