ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Griffon Softball (19-4) split a home doubleheader with Minnesota State-Moorhead (2-19) on Thursday, winning the first game 12-4 in five innings before falling to the Dragons in game two, 1-0.
Game 1: MWSU 12 MSUM 4 (5)
MSU-Moorhead scored four runs in the first, but MoWest answered with five runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back.
The Griffs outhit the Dragons 13-5, and slammed the door in the fifth with a three-run bomb to deep center by
Ayva McComas.

Sophie Johnson and
Sienna Reed each had two hits.
Ashlyn Finarty had a solo bomb in the third.
Torie Sandoval (4-2) went the complete game, striking out three and walking three in five innings. She was charged with three earned runs.
Game 2: MSUM 1 MWSU 0
The Dragons broke a scoreless tie in the top of the seventh with a solo homer by Lacey Camden. The Griffons got the tying run on first in the bottom of the seventh, but a double play ended the game.
Harley Pruetting (7-1) had a strong effort, striking out five and walking two in a complete game. She allowed just five hits and one earned run.
MoWest was limited to just three hits offensively.
