DALLAS, Texas – Griffon Baseball junior pitcher Cole Evans has been named by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Central Region Pitcher of the Week following his dominant performance in Griffon Baseball's home-opening series.
Evans earned the honor after a complete-game shutout in game two against Concordia–St. Paul on Feb. 6, leading the Griffons to a 7–0 victory over the Golden Bears. The junior right-hander was nearly untouchable, tossing nine scoreless innings while allowing just one hit. He struck out 11 batters, walked two, and needed just 102 pitches to secure the win.
The regional recognition comes on the heels of Evans being named MIAA Pitcher of the Week for week two of the 2026 season, adding another accolade to his standout start.
Griffon Baseball remains at home this weekend, hosting St. Cloud State for a three-game series at the MWSU Spring Sports Complex. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. on Friday, followed by a 1 p.m. start Saturday and a noon finale on Sunday in St. Joseph.
