Volleyball ranked No. 11 in latest AVCA Division II Coaches Poll

MoWest drops three spots following five-set loss to No. 15 Washburn

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Griffon Volleyball is ranked No. 11 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA)/Taraflex Division II Women's Volleyball Coaches Poll, released Monday, Oct. 19.

MoWest (17-3) received 687 points in this week's national poll, dropping three spots from No. 8 following a five-set loss to then-No. 15 Washburn on Friday.

Griffon Volleyball has remained nationally ranked throughout the 2026 season, beginning the year tied for No. 16 in the preseason poll. MWSU climbed to No. 8 on Sept. 14, marking a new program-high national ranking at the time, and held that position for three consecutive weeks.

MoWest moved up to No. 7 on Oct. 5 before returning to No. 8 last week. This week's No. 11 ranking marks the eighth consecutive appearance inside the national top 15 for Griffon Volleyball.

Ferris State remains atop the national poll with a 21-0 record and 46 first-place votes. Wayne State (Neb.) holds the No. 2 spot, followed by Tampa at No. 3, Fresno Pacific at No. 4 and Angelo State at No. 5.

The MIAA has five teams represented in this week's national top 25, including No. 6 Nebraska Kearney, No. 11 MoWest, No. 13 Emporia State, No. 15 Washburn and No. 23 Central Oklahoma. Emporia State made the largest jump among conference programs, moving up five spots from No. 18.

What's Next

Griffon Volleyball returns to action Tuesday, Oct. 20, against Northwest Missouri State in a non-conference matchup before facing No. T-15 Washburn on Friday, Oct. 23, in a rematch of last week's five-set battle. Friday's matchup against the Ichabods will count toward the MIAA conference standings, while Tuesday's contest against Northwest Missouri State will not, as only the first meeting between designated travel partners counts toward conference play this season.
