Volleyball drops matches to West Florida, Wayne State in Premier Challenge.

Griffons head for Truman State tournament next weekend.

DENVER, Colo. – Griffon Volleyball (6-2) concluded its run at the 2025 Colorado Premier Challenge in the gold bracket Saturday, falling to the University of West Florida and No. 25 Wayne State, 3-1, at the Auraria Event Center in Denver.

MATCH 1:
West Florida handed MWSU its first loss of the season in four sets. The Argonauts (6-1) claimed the opening two sets 25-22 and 25-19 before the Griffons responded with a 25-21 win in the third. West Florida closed things out in the fourth, pulling away late for a 25- 20 decision.

Offensively, Emma Salker and Noelle Sutcliffe each posted 10 kills, while Holly Heldt added nine. Setting duties were shared by Hayley Barsky, who dished out 23 assists, and Diani-O'Day, who added 14. At the service line, the Griffons tallied six aces.

At the net, Trista Marx had five block assists, while Taylor Russell contributed four total blocks. Weberg paced the team with 19 digs.

MATCH 2:
Wayne State (6-2) took the first set, 25-21, before MoWest took the second 25-17. The Wildcats went onto win three and four – both by a 25-21 margin. Wayne got up 10-3 in the third and then 22-16 late in the fourth.

Taylor Russell paced the offense with 16 kills. Emma Salker had 15. Hayley Barskey finished with 26 assists, while Holly Heldt led the way defensively with 23 digs.

UP NEXT
MoWest will head to Kirksville, Missouri for its final tri-match tournament of the season – a two-day event beginning Friday, September 19. The Griffons will open play against Truman State at 1:30 p.m. before facing William Jewell later that day at 4:00 p.m.
