Griffons stalled offensively in 6-0 loss to Missouri Southern on Sunday

MWSU finished the game with five hits compared to MSSU’s 14

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Missouri Western baseball (8-22, 6-14 MIAA) dropped the three-game series to Missouri Southern State (20-14, 13-11 MIAA) on Sunday afternoon following a 6-0 loss at the Spring Sports Complex.

The Griffons struggled to generate offense, managing only five hits throughout the game. This was largely due to an impressive performance by starting pitcher Casey Stalzer (3-1), who threw 7.0 shutout innings and recorded a game-high six strikeouts. Freshman Colby Deaver (1-5) took the loss, finishing with five strikeouts over 4.0 innings.

Southern totaled 14 hits in the matchup, featuring a solo homer from Drew Townsend in the sixth inning, which marked the final run of the game. All nine batters in MSSU's starting lineup registered at least one hit, while five players also recorded multiple hits.

Kaden Doan, Quinton Robertson, Frank Gall, Jett Grossart and Blake Anderson tallied a hit for the Griffs.

The game three finale between Missouri Western and Missouri Southern is slated for tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. from Griffon Park.
