CLAREMORE, Okla. – Missouri Western baseball (13-27, 11-18 MIAA) split a doubleheader at Rogers State Friday, winning the first game, 4-3, and dropping the second, 8-1, at RCB Bank Sports Complex in Claremore. The Hillcats took two out of three games in the series.
Missouri Western returns home to face Northwest Missouri State in a season series finale on Wednesday. First pitch from the MWSU Spring Sports Complex is set for 5 p.m.
Game 1: Missouri Western 4 Rogers State 3
Trailing 3-2, Missouri Western scored the go-ahead runs in the top of the seventh with a two-run bomb by
Easton Mains – his second homer of the season.
Meanwhile,
Colby Deaver (3-5) picked up his second straight win in his seventh start of the season. He went seven innings, and struck out three.
Jacob Ross picked up his second save, tossing two hitless innings and striking out a pair.
Kaden Doan went 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored.
Game 2: Rogers State 8 Missouri Western 1
Rogers State led 4-0 after the seventh, and added four insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth.
The Griffons scored their lone run in the top of the ninth with a solo shot homer by
Kaden Doan.
Western had six hits, but stranded 10 base runners.
Quinton Robertson went 2-for-5.
Logan Winkelman (1-3) had a strong start, going six innings and striking out seven and walking just two. He was tagged with three hits and two earned runs.
