ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Missouri Western baseball (1-13, 0-6 MIAA) returns home for a three-game series this weekend for a three-game series against Northeastern State (6-8, 3-3 MIAA) from Griffon Park at the Spring Sports Complex.
The series will kick off with an opening game on Friday at 4:00 p.m., followed by game two on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and the finale on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

TOP GRIFFON PERFORMERS
Quinn Gundelfinger enters the week boasting a slash line of .321/.321/.491 in 14 starts this season. The senior has tallied 17 hits, which consist of three doubles and two home runs. He also leads the team with 12 RBIs, has crossed home plate 11 times and successfully stole five bases.
Jackson Bryant and
Frank Gall rank second on the team with 13 hits each, and both have also hit a home run this season. Meanwhile,
Blake Venneman and
Quinton Robertson have shown great plate discipline, leading the team with seven walks.
Junior
Logan Winkelman has played a key role for Western on the mound, posting a 5.28 ERA over 15.1 innings. He is currently tied with fellow junior
Lynden Bruegman for the team lead in strikeouts, with both recording 14 strikeouts.
Jayson Shorb,
Josh Nolte and
Colby Deaver have each made a notable contribution from the bullpen, with all three achieving seven strikeouts.
ABOUT THE RIVERHAWKS
Northeastern State finished 2024 with a 20-30 (11-22 MIAA) record and was selected to finish 11th in the 2025 Preseason Coaches' Poll with 41 points.
The RiverHawks head into the weekend with a record of 6-8 (3-3 MIAA). They kicked off their conference schedule with an impressive 3-0 series sweep against Newman in Wichita, but hit a hurdle last weekend, losing all three games to Rogers State.
Junior Holden Yoder is a player to watch for NSU. The two-way play has slashed .367/.484/.61 with 18 hits, 11 runs, 10 RBIs and nine walks in 14 starts. Six of his hits have gone for extra bases, as he has tallied three home runs and three doubles.
The NSU pitcher to watch is right-handed arm Braxton Jones (2-1). The freshman heads into the week with a 3.65 ERA and 1.22 WHIP. The Sapulpa, Oklahoma, native leads the team with 31 strikeouts and has walked just nine batters in 24.2 innings.
