ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Missouri Western baseball (2-16, 1-8 MIAA) returns to action for a three-game road series in Wichita, Kansas, against the Newman Jets (6-13, 2-8 MIAA) this weekend.
Action from McCarthy Field will begin with the series opener on Friday at 2:00 p.m., followed by game two on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and the finale on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Live stats for all three games will be available

TOP GRIFFON PERFORMERS
Blake Venneman has had a recent surge at the plate for the Griffons, including an impressive four-hit game against the Northeastern RiverHawks (3/8). He leads the team in both batting average (.373) and on-base percentage (.500) while collecting 19 hits and a team-leading 10 walks.
Quinn Gundelfinger has also been electric at the plate for Western, leading the team with 21 hits, including three home runs and three doubles. His go-head grand slam at Griffon Park against NSU (3/9) helped the Griffs snap a 13-game losing skid. Additionally, he leads the team with 18 RBIs.
Frank Gall has been impressive at the plate, recording 20 hits that include three home runs and a double, along with 15 RBIs and 13 runs scored. The St. Joseph native leads the team with 12 stolen bases on 13 attempts.
Logan Winkelman has played a crucial role for Western on the mound, recording a 5.73 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP across 22.0 innings. He leads the team with 25 strikeouts, followed by
Lynden Bruegman, who has notched 18 strikeouts this season.

ABOUT THE JETS
Newman posted a 14-35 (10-23 MIAA) record in 2024 and was picked to finish 13th with 20 points in the MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll.
The Jets enter the weekend with a record of 6-13 (2-8 MIAA). They recently secured a 15-14 victory in a high-scoring match against Southern Nazarene on Tuesday. Their two wins in conference play were achieved on the road against Arkansas-Fort Smith and Rogers State.
The NU player to watch is senior Trent Trammell. The senior from Kansas City has slashed .443/.534/.607 with 27 hits, 15 runs, nine runs and nine walks.
A Newman pitcher to keep an eye on is rightly Colby Wilson. The senior has an ERA of 3.91 and WHIP of 1.30 over 25.1 innings of work. He has collected 16 strikeouts and walked only six batters.
