Griffon Women’s Basketball opens "Field Trip with the Griffs" with 105–53 Exhibition win over Livin’ The Dream

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Griffon Women's Basketball opened Field Trip with the Griffs Pt. 1 with a 105–53 exhibition victory over Livin' The Dream on Monday morning during SJSD Education Day, presented by Lehr Construction, inside the Looney Complex, as 2,672 elementary and middle school students from 17 St. Joseph School District schools filled the stands, representing Carden Park, Coleman, Edison, Bessie Ellison, Eugene Field, Hosea, Hyde, Lindbergh, Oak Grove, Parkway, Pershing, Pickett, Skaith, Bode, Robidoux, Truman, and Spring Garden.

MoWest set the tone early, opening the game with a strong first quarter to take a 22–13 lead. The Griffons continued to control the pace in the second quarter, outscoring Livin' The Dream 20–16 to carry a 42–29 advantage into halftime.

Coming out of the break, MWSU delivered its most explosive stretch of the game in the third quarter, pouring in 37 points while holding LTD to 14 to push the lead comfortably out of reach. The Griffons closed the contest with a solid fourth quarter, adding 26 more points and limiting Livin' The Dream to 10 to secure the 105–53 exhibition victory.

MoWest shot 53.2 percent from the field (42-of-79), including 37.5 percent from three-point range (12-of-32), and 60.0 percent at the free-throw line (9-of-15).

Livin' The Dream finished the game shooting 23.2 percent from the field (16-of-69), 23.1 percent from beyond the arc (6-of-26), and 71.4 percent from the foul line (15-of-21).

Mia Morel paced MoWest with 28 points on 11-of-18 shooting, while also dishing out seven assists and collecting five steals.

Nakiya Harris recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 8-of-13 from the floor.

Sydney Lewis led the rebounding effort with 11 boards and added eight points, and LaNicia Parker chipped in 10 points and six rebounds off the bench.

Griffon Women's Basketball returns to action on the road at Lincoln on Thursday, Dec. 18, with tipoff scheduled for 5 p.m. in Jefferson City, Mo. inside Jason Gym.
