Griffon Men’s Basketball Rolls to First Road Win, 82–56 at William Jewell

LIBERTY, Mo. – Griffon Men's Basketball (5–2), went on the road and earned its first road win of the season with an offensive masterclass, defeating William Jewell (2–3), by a score of 82–56 on Tuesday night.

MoWest carried a 39–24 advantage going into the half after putting together a steady and efficient first twenty minutes inside the Mabee Center. The game was tied at 18–18 with eight minutes remaining before the Griffons closed the period on a dominant 21–6 surge to break it open. Dev Butler led all Griffons with 9 points at the break, followed by Gavin Hershberger with 7. MoWest shot 50% from three at 4-of-8 and went 16-of-33 from the field overall at 48.5%.

The Griffons pushed their advantage to 62–40 at the 10:03 mark of the second half, one of several stretches where MoWest built a sizeable cushion. At the 1:13 mark, MoWest took its largest lead of the night, going up 80–53 for a 27-point advantage. The Griffons closed out the contest with an 82–56 final, securing their first road win of the season.

MoWest controlled the matchup from start to finish, outplaying the Cardinals in nearly every major statistical category. The Griffons shot 48.5% from the field (32-66), while the Cardinals were held to just 33.3% (23-69). From beyond the arc, MoWest owned a 42.9% clip compared to the Cardinals' 22.6%, and the Griffons also capitalized at the line, going 12-17 to the Cardinals' 3-5.

Inside, the Griffons held a commanding 48–30 advantage in points in the paint and pushed the pace with an 8–2 edge in fastbreak scoring. MoWest turned defense into offense with 15 points off turnovers while committing only 9 turnovers of their own, compared to the Cardinals' 13.
