OMAHA, Neb. – Griffon Women's Basketball fell in an exhibition contest at Division I Creighton University, 117-66, on Wednesday night at D.J. Sokol Arena in Omaha.
MoWest battled hard early, trailing only 21-15 at the start of the second quarter, but Creighton opened things up with 41 second quarter points.
The Jays were hot from three throughout the game, hitting on 16-of-38 (42.1%) from long range. Creighton also capitalized on 26 MoWest turnovers, scoring 27 points off of them.
Ana Oliveira Dias led three Griffons in double figures with 15 points.
Nakiya Harris had 11 points and a team-best six rebounds.
Lindsey Kelderman scored 10 points, including two first quarter three-pointers.
MoWest shot 25-of-67 from the field (37.3%) and 6-of-22 (27.3%) from deep. MoWest was 10-of-15 at the free throw line. Creighton was 25-of-29 at the stripe.
MoWest will officially open the season on Friday, October 31 in the D2CCA Tip-off Classic against defending NCAA Division II national champion Grand Valley State. Tip-off from St. Joseph Civic Arena is set for 3 p.m.
