ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - A tough Friday night series opener for Missouri Western Baseball saw the Griffons fall 14-1 in eight innings to Emporia State.
Hornet pitcher Cade Barton picked up the victory, scattering one run on five hits in seven innings of work. ESU used a four run second inning to take early command, and followed with two runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth to take a 10-0 lead. Western's lone RBI came off the bat of
Blake Anderson in the bottom of the sixth.
The Griffons and Hornets meet again on Saturday at Griffon Park with the first pitch set for 2:00pm.
