HAYS, KAN. – Junior shortstop
Blake Anderson (Overland Park, Kan.) delivered a two-hit afternoon, guiding Missouri Western State University in a weekend series finale at Larks Field Saturday, March 30.
Anderson, earning his second straight multiple-hit game and fourth in his last five appearances, singled twice and scored a run for head coach
Damian Stambersky's squad. The Griffons also produced three extra base hits against Fort Hays State University pitching, as senior outfielder
Jared Munk (Shawnee, Kan.) homered and sophomore third baseman
Jackson Bryant (Aurora, Colo.) and senior outfielder
Ryan Koval (Olathe, Kan.) doubled.
MWSU got off to a fast start, posting three runs in the first. However, FHSU responded with a five-run outburst over the first and second frames. The visitors closed the gap to 5-4 with one in the fourth, but the hosts put it away with three in the sixth and eighth to close out an 11-4 final.
The Griffons dipped to 15-17 overall and 7-13 in the MIAA with the loss. Stambersky's crew begins a run of six in a row on their home field Tuesday, April 2, as Maryville University comes to town for a 5 p.m. non-conference tilt.
