St. Joseph, Mo, -- Missouri Western Softball got back on the winning track Friday, sweeping a doubleheader with Minneosta State Moorhead. After seeing their 11-game winning streak snapped by Augustana on Tuesday, the Griffons have now won 13 of their last 15 games.
GAME 1
Offensively, the Griffons were paced by T. Bristol, who went 2-for-2 on the day with a double, a home run and two RBI. M. DeVine compiled a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and an RBI. K. Preston also helped out for Missouri Western State, putting together zero hits in one trip to the plate while adding three walks and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Griffons took the lead for good in the second, scoring for the first time in the inning. Bristol put MWSU on the board with a one-out solo home run off E. Johnson. The Griffons then tacked on runs in the third, fourth, and sixth innings, with their biggest output coming in the fourth when they scored three times. Three run-scoring doubles, one each off the bats of DeVine, M. Dwyer, and B. Hoelscher accounted for all of those three runs.

It was a closely contested ballgame, but Missouri Western State's two-run fifth inning proved to be the difference, as the Griffons emerged with a victory on Friday, knocking off the Minnesota State-Moorhead Dragons 2-1.
H. Pruetting (4-2) got the win for Missouri Western State (16-6). The right-hander went six innings, giving up one run on one hit, allowing five walks and striking out six.
In the batter's box, the Griffons were led by M. DeVine, who went 2-for-3 on the day with an RBI. M. Dwyer put together a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Griffons got on the scoreboard first, starting in the fifth inning. Missouri Western State pushed across two runs in the frame, the big blow coming on an RBI double from Dwyer. Minnesota State-Moorhead put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over, but the Griffons still held on for the 2-1 win.
