No. 18 Griffon Tennis takes down No. 20 Augustana in nail-biter

SIXOUS FALLS, S.D. — Picking up a win in their first opportunity against a ranked opponent this season, No. 18 Griffon Tennis defeated No. 20 Augustana 4-3 on Saturday at Huether Match Pointe.

Missouri Western improves to 4-0, while Augustana takes its first loss of the season and drops to 2-1. Augustana had won the previous three meetings spanning mback to 2018.

DOUBLES

No. 1 | Augustana clinched the doubles point with a 2-1 showing to start the day. The team of Anya Chavez/Greta Langiu fell 6-4 to Flo Hadjigeorgiou/Aleksandr Kistanov,
No. 2 | The No. 2 team took home a win, as Isabella MacGibbon/Anais Peralta Criado beat Gabriela Janickova and Simone Karaouza 7-5.
No. 3 | Augustana jumped out in front 1-0 with 6-4 win in No. 3 doubles, which was decided by Senem Ocal's/Milte Bakyte's 6-4 decision over Lucia Casas Blas/Maria Saez.

No. 5 | Saez sealed a Griffon comeback with a marathon win over Margarita Chouliara, winning 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.
