ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Missouri Western State University women's basketball team has surpassed its initial fundraising goal and has successfully fully funded its upcoming ten-day trip to Greece, head coach Candi Whitaker announced Thursday.

Since fundraising efforts began, 121 donors combined to donate nearly $62,000 to fund the international tour.

"I am overwhelmed with the generosity of our friends, families, and supporters," said Whitaker. "Our student-athletes, coaches, and staff did a tremendous job in spreading the word on this campaign. This tour will be an incredible boost to the student-athlete experience and will assist us in preparing for the upcoming season."

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Griffon student-athletes will embark on a ten-day tour of Greece and Santorini in August that features practices, three games against international competition, guided tours of cultural sites, and varied teambuilding activities.
