Griffons fall to Fort Hays in seven after two-hour delay

ST. JOSEPH, Mo.  Once both teams had ridden out a two-hour storm delay on Friday, Griffon Baseball fell to Fort Hays State 15-2 in seven innings at the Spring Sports Complex.

Fort Hays (18-24, 8-17 MIAA) scored at least one run in every inning, taking a 4-0 lead by the top of the third. Later in the bottom half of the frame, Hunter Olson hammered a two-run double to plate Hunter Rumachik and Travis Wiese and cut the deficit to 4-2. The Tigers, however, continued scoring, putting up a four spot in the fifth and then again in the seventh, enforcing the 10-run rule after seven innings to win 15-2.

NOTABLES
  • Wiese led the Griffons at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run scored.
  • Ryan Neise went 1-for-1 with two walks.
  • Brenden Andersen hit his eighth double of the season.
