Griffons win first GLVC opener behind York's four goals

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Right from the get-go, Griffon Lacrosse left Quincy in the dust en route to an 11-6 win on Saturday at Spratt Stadium to open GLVC play 1-0 for the first time in program history.

Sparked by two Karlin York goals in the first seven minutes, Missouri Western built a 7-0 lead with five goals coming in the first quarter. Madison Brady scored scored her two goals for the day in the first period, joining Hallie Clark on the stat sheet in the process. Griffon goalkeeper Mackenzie Porter kept Quincy (4-7, 0-1 GLVC) quiet throughout the first half, holding the Hawks to just one goal and helping MWSU preserve an 8-1 lead after the first two quarters.

After tallying a hat trick in the first half, York found her fourth goal in the beginning of the final quarter to push MWSU's lead to 11-4. Missouri Western went idle for the final nine minutes of the game, pushing the Griffons' all-time record vs. Quincy to 3-0.
