ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Griffon Baseball ran into a tough one during Saturday's home opener vs. Pittsburg State, falling in 14-2 fashion after seven innings at the Spring Sports Complex.
The Gorillas (10-6, 2-2 MIAA) opened up the game in the first inning with a two-run home run by Nixon Brannan, marking his third homer in his last two games. Pitt State put four more runs on the board in the third, building an 11-0 lead into the sixth inning. Missouri Western (3-8, 0-4 MIAA) responded with a run in bottom half of the frame, as pinch hitter

Hunter Olson single a few moments later plated McArn, slicing the Pitt lead to 11-2.
Brannan blasted a three-run shot in the seventh, putting Pitt up, 14-2, and initiating the the 10-run rule. The Griffons ran out of outs half a frame later, dropping their sixth-straight game.
