BB Primer | Griffons start three-game series with NSU

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Griffon Baseball is set to host a three-game series this weekend vs. Northeastern State, starting this Friday at the Spring Sports Complex.

NATIONAL ATHLETIC TRAINING MONTH IN ST. JOE
Prior to the start of Friday's game, MWSU Head Athletic Trainer will throw out the first pitch commemorate Athletic Trainer Appreciation Month. 

NOTCH AFTER NOTCH FOR NIX
Griffon junior catcher Jerry Nix has been on a tear has of late, hitting safely with a .400 batting average in his last four games with four RBI and one home run. Nix had a great showing vs. Washburn on March 26, going 3-for-5 at the plate with a two-run blast, one double, two runs scored and three total RBI. Overall, Nix is hitting .310 this season and is tied for first with senior infielder Hunter Rumachik with three home runs apiece

SCOUTING NORTHEASTERN STATE: MARCH 31-APRIL 2
The RiverHawks (12-16, 6-11 MIAA) are coming off two-straight losses, dropping a 10-9 one-off with Central Oklahoma last Tuesday in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. However, NSU did take two out of three from Northwest Missouri State before that, winning the first two against the Bearcats. The RiverHawks are 2-6 on the road this season, winning one game at Southeastern Oklahoma and another at Washburn. 

Who to Watch
Senior infielder C.D. White leads NSU with 10 doubles and a .362 batting average in 26 games played and started this season. Northeastern's power hitter is junior outfielder Isaiah Keller, who leads his squad with six home runs and 30 RBI this season, as he is tied with White for first on the team with 10 doubles of his own. Keller is also a threat on the basepaths, swiping 11 stolen bases on 12 attempts, which ties him for eighth in the MIAA.
