ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — For the third time in six seasons, the Griffons will play postseason football in Texarkana.
Missouri Western (8-3, 7-3 MIAA) accepted a bid to the Farmers Bank & Trust Live United Bowl on Wednesday morning and will play Southern Arkansas University (9-2, 9-2 GAC) on Dec. 2 at 12 p.m. in Texarkana, Arkansas, at Razorback Stadium. The Griffons and Muleriders last faced off in the 2018 Live United Bowl, with MWSU winning 30-25. This will be Western's second all-time meeting with SAU.
As for first-year Head Coach
Tyler Fenwick, this is his third consecutive season coaching in the Live United Bowl. While with Southeastern Oklahoma State from 2019-2022, Fenwick's Savage Storm won this bowl game in 2021 and competed in it once again in 2022, playing Emporia State on both occasions.
Missouri Western won the Live United Bowl in back-to-back years from 2018-19, defeating SAU in 2018 and Henderson State 35-14 in 2019. The Griffons are the only team in Division II to win the Live United Bowl more than once.
Dating back to Fenwick's initial run as the Griffs' offensive coordinator from 2007-12, MWSU has now made the postseason every season with him on staff. Missouri Western is 10-7 all-time in the postseason, going 8-3 in bowl games.
